OMX makes it easy for sellers to get noticed by a buyer through a number of tools, the most basic of which is to join their 'Supplier List.' Joining a buyer's supplier list puts your company on a shortlist of sellers that are interested in working with that buyer. OMX recommends that sellers should be proactive in reaching out to and getting on the radar of buyers that they want to work with by using these tools.
This advice is especially true for companies working in defence in Canada. Under the Industrial Technological Benefits (ITB) program, prime contractors/buyers must now identify at least 30% of their transactions for the program they are bidding on in their Value Proposition. It is now more important than ever to begin establishing your relationship with and the value you can bring to a prime/buyer before the contract is awarded.
To join a buyer's interested supplier list:
1. Search for the buyer in OMX. For instructions on how to search, click here.
2. Click on the name of the buyer in the search results to be taken to their public profile on OMX.
3. Click on the 'Join Supplier List' button in the upper right corner of the profile.
4. Looking at it from the buyer's perspective, they will now see the supplier's name in their 'Interested Supplier' list. Joining this list makes it much easier for buyers to identify suppliers for certain programs, local spending obligations or offsets when putting together their Value Propositions.
